I mean, we evolved in sunlight. We were bathed in sunlight, we feel better in sunlight. And sunlight provides us with a gift, which is vitamin D. And so, as you're well aware, in my book, I have tables at the end of the book, where I tell people anywhere on the globe, any time of the year, for any skin type at any time of day, how long they can stay outside to get some safe sun to provide them with their vitamin D requirements, and then to use sun protection thereafter.
Adams: I think that's wonderful that you have that kind of chart in your book, because that's what people are wondering. |

Since sunlight exposure causes vitamin D production in the human body, individuals who intentionally expose themselves to sunlight will now be arrested and have their blood confiscated by federal health authorities. All citizens are advised to coat themselves with sunscreen every time they go out in the sun and avoid sun exposure until further notice.
Individuals caught seeking sunlight may be charged with not only possession, but trafficking of the vitamin D drug. DEA agents have been alerted and will be called in to arrest sunbathers. |

The darker your skin, the more sunlight you need in order to generate vitamin D. The lighter, or fairer, your skin, the less sunlight you need. By the way, one of the people commenting on this study was so baffled by the results they said, "It must all be due to vitamin D, and if you want vitamin D, there are better places to get it like drinking milk." It's typical advice from conventional medicine. They’re still telling people to avoid the sun and, instead, drink lots of cows' milk. How's that for lousy health advice? |

Individuals caught seeking sunlight may be charged with not only possession, but trafficking of the vitamin D drug. DEA agents have been alerted and will be called in to arrest sunbathers. Sunscreen checkpoints will also be set up in public places where sunlight may occur, and any citizen who fails to test positive for the presence of sunscreen on their skin will be immediately arrested and charged with trafficking vitamin D.
Hat companies and sunscreen manufacturers hailed the FDA's decision. |

In fact, there seems to be a systemic anti-cancer effect provided by sunlight exposure and vitamin D. If you haven't already, be sure to read the free report available for downloading at http://www.truthpublishing.com. It's an interview with Dr. Michael Holick on this very topic. It's a fascinating read. That interview was conducted before this new study was published, but I'm sure this study is bringing a smile to Dr. Michael Holick's face, and hopefully increasing awareness of the importance of sunlight exposure across the U.S. population -- especially in the medical community. |

Adams: And it is widespread, wherever I go and talk to people, to groups, I inevitably mention sunlight and vitamin D, and I have not run into a single person yet that is aware of the health benefits of ultraviolet radiation. Not a single one.
Dr. Holick: I'm not at all surprised. Like I said, the problem was that over the past 20 years ago the dermatologists have basically been in control of the media regarding the role of sunlight in health. And all they've looked at is the negative effect. |

When was the last time you actually heard a cancer group recommend that women get sunlight to prevent breast cancer? It doesn't happen. It's all about getting mammograms and chemotherapy. sunlight is free, you see. There's no money in recommending sunlight, even though the creation of vitamin D through sunlight actually drops breast cancer rates by nearly fifty percent.
With good nutrition and avoidance of cancer-causing chemicals, we could eliminate around 90 percent of the cancer in modern nations. Doctors are not taught nutrition in medical school. |

In fact, the more progressive, forward-thinking doctors out there are finally overturning some of the old medical methodology about sunlight being dangerous. People are realizing that we need sunlight. If we don't have sunlight, we cannot possibly be healthy individuals. sunlight is essential for human health, and of course, the sunscreen companies are going to fight this with their last dying breath, but the fact is that we are far healthier if we eat high-antioxidant, nutrient-dense foods, and get sunlight without sunscreen. |

And so this is a very unfortunate extreme, to suggest that people should never be exposed to direct sunlight. In my opinion, it's really bad advice.
Adams: Have you thought about marketing a product, a watch that you can wear that senses UV radiation and tells people when they have sufficient amounts? Because they have ones that warn people about overexposure, but not ones that tell people how much sunlight they actually need.

If you go out and regularly get sunlight on your skin -- as a child, as a teenager, and as an adult, you will not get prostate cancer.
Of course, the darker your skin, the more sunlight you need. This is another point I've said over 100 times on this website. People with dark skin have a natural adaptation that blocks more ultraviolet rays. As a result, they need 20 to 30 times as much sun exposure to generate the same amount of vitamin D as a white-skinned person.
Once again, think about it: Where did people who have darker skin come from? |

Holick: In the United States I think it's going to be a more slow and gradual process, because the American Academy of Dermatology has so brainwashed the public that you should never be exposed to any sunlight, that it basically is part of everybody's way of life. And it's extremely unfortunate.
Adams: And it is widespread, wherever I go and talk to people, to groups, I inevitably mention sunlight and vitamin D, and I have not run into a single person yet that is aware of the health benefits of ultraviolet radiation. Not a single one.

I've interviewed the world's foremost expert on vitamin D and sunlight exposure -- Dr. Michael Holick, the author of the book, "The UV Advantage." (You can download the full interview for free at www.TruthPublishing.com.) In his book, he talks about how important it is to get some ultraviolet light if you want to be a healthy human being. I strongly recommend this book for those who really want to know how vitamin D works and what a fascinating journey it takes through your body. |
| In fact, there's now more than enough evidence to show that sunlight is absolutely essential for human health.
Getting back to health basics
I'm often surprised that we even have to question this. How obvious can this be? We evolved under the sun! It's not like the sun is brand new. It's not like the Earth created life in total darkness and then all of a sudden, in the last 40 years, the sun appeared and now we have skin cancer. I mean, think about it! Use some common sense here, because the doctors and researchers certainly aren't. |
| We evolved and adapted as a species to live in harmony with the sun. sunlight is present each and every day on the planet. And as beings, we evolved a genetic plan to exploit that sun to enhance our own health. I've said this many times before, but it's worth repeating: human beings did not evolve under fluorescent lights sitting in chairs in cubicles. We evolved in the wild, outdoors. We evolved under the sun, and our bodies learned how to use the sun to support our health. |
| Your skin manufactures the cure for cancer simply by being exposed to sunlight.
See, the strategies for preventing these diseases are readily available. Your body already knows all of this. But when you go outside and put on sunscreen, you interfere with your body's normal system of disease prevention. Of course, this doesn't mean you should go outside and burn yourself to a crisp. If you're not used to getting lots of sun on your skin, then you have to use some common sense. |

Nine out of ten blind people have severe sleep problems because they are not getting sunlight into the retina of their eyes, into the brain to tell the brain that it is time to be awake during the day. The more light stimuli you can give your body during the day, the stronger your sleep-wake rhythm will be. I am talking about sunlight in particular. Indoor light is not going to make any difference. You need to expose yourself to bright sunlight?just your eyes. There are artificial sun boxes that are commercially available. |

Corporate-controlled consumers
As I have said before in other essays, if pharmaceutical companies could figure out a way to block sunlight from reaching the planet, then bottle up some sunlight and sell it as a healing drug, I have no doubt that they would do so. It would be the most potent and profitable healing substance you could prescribe to a human being. The only reason sunlight isn't promoted today is because it is freely available and no one has figured out a way to prevent everyone from getting their own natural sunlight. |

Fair- or white-skinned people lived in northern climates, where sunlight exposure is a fraction of that at the equator. Thus, they did not need the ultraviolet protection of dark skin pigmentation; they needed lighter skin that lets in more ultraviolet light and enables them to produce more vitamin D.
The exception to this is people who lived in Alaska and other northern climates. Despite their location, they still had dark skin. Why? Because they got their vitamin D from their diet, which was rich in fish oil. |

If the American Cancer Society declared that sunlight caused cancer and that the citizens should avoid sunlight and cover their skin with toxic chemical creams to block out the sun, the press would gladly run with that story, too. Come to think of it, they already have: That's the story on sunscreen, and just about everything you read in the mainstream media about sunlight and sunscreen is blatantly false.
There are so many falsehoods routinely printed in the mainstream media these days that it has become a rarity to find any piece of truth. |

Sunlight and vitamin D.
The ultra-wealthy ACS non-profit, with all its ties to pharmaceutical companies and mammography machine manufacturers, still refuses to openly urge women to prevent breast cancer by getting more vitamin D through nutritional supplements or sensible sunlight exposure. In fact, the organization continues to warn people away from sunlight, actually contributing to the mass vitamin D deficiency that's now rampant in western nations (including the U.S., Canada and the U.K.).
Vitamin D deficiency greatly reduces the body's ability to halt the growth of cancer tumors. |
